WHY MATH IN THE SUMMERTIME?

Due to school closures and the emotional & educational impact of the pandemic this past year, many students have, through no fault of their own, fallen behind in their academic progress. This fear felt by many parents is a common phenomenon confirmed by research. According to a PACE (Policy Analysis for California Education), “we found that there has been substantial learning loss, especially in the earlier grades, in both ELA and Math... Without aggressive bold and immediate actions, these students may never be able to catch up.”

While learning gaps are seen throughout all grades, math gaps in the crucial middle school years—and especially between 5th & 6th grades—are of paramount importance to building a solid foundation for high school math (Geometry, Algebra 1 and 2, & Calculus). Small gaps in math learning or lack of true mastery of foundational math can have a significant impact on a student’s future.

We believe that math review or pre-exposure of match concepts for your child's upcoming school year will be extremely beneficial in building a solid foundation. Despite the difficult 2020/2021 academic year, our program will mitigate some of the educational losses caused by online learning, as well as build momentum going into the next school year.
